i ordered what I thought was the standard flip top leather case like I had for the X50v but when it turned up it was a book style leather case with a zip on it. It is a bit more bulky than the other case and I suspect it may not hold the larger style battery.

I've managed quite well so far with the standard battery. I have a stand at work and home and I have a portable usb cable for travelling which also has a car adaptor, so I'm pretty powered up !

I'll be interested to see how the two compare. I've seen quite a few comments suggesting that the X50v is faster and more stable than the X51v. But then you do get a more up to date OS with the X51v.

As an aside, I recently purchased an 1800maH Mugen battery from eBay for my X50v. It was £31.94 delivered from a UK seller, and is a big improvement over the standard 1100maH battery. The battery uses a new cover, which extends out the back a little bit, but this doesn't stop it fitting in the standard Dell soft case. I recommend one if you find the normal battery life a bit short.
