Aye, a trip up to the lakes would be good. I've ben investigating the costs of cottages up there recently. Think I'll be going up there pretty soon so we can grab a beer if you're around!

I shall have to read through the links you've provided, cheers.

Just had a check at the exif data and I'd set the aperture to f8, I'll try the widest f2.8 on my next attempt.

I'm really looking forward to trying out the long shutter times, I tried it out on a dripping tap.

I really need to nip up to the Lakes and take some pictures of waterfalls. :)

Arrh! I just wrote a long answer but forgot to do the 'human test'. Lost everything I said!

The gist of it was:

- Good photo!

- Use unsharp mask to bring out the detail in your photograph:
http://www.sweeting.org/mark/blog/2005/04/21/unsharp-mask

- Try using a wider aperture to make the background more blury. It's a bit distracting here.

- Position your subject off centre - look at the rule of thirds:
http://www.silverlight.co.uk/tutorials/compose_expose/thirds.html

Finally, and most important, have fun!
