ScummVM
Friday, June 16th, 2006Just installed the ScummVM on my Axim. Just about to dig out my old Monkey Island games so I can relive the good times.
They just don’t make them as good these days.

Tags: gaming, monkey-island, scummvmEvery so often a game comes along that just takes the mould and smashes it to pieces, this is Spore. A new game in the making from Maxis (the Sims guys). It’s the Sims on acid ! You’re given the ability to create your own lifeforms and have them evolve through different era’s. Well I’m not gonna try and explain it any more than that, check out the video interviews.
Get the video
[Huge] Get the full enchilada
[Cutdown1] Get the first 10 minutes (Will Wright introducing character creation)
[Cutdown2] Get the next 10.
[Cutdown3] Get the following 10.
[Cutdown4] Get the final 10.
But hey it looks cool, I’m guessing you’ll need a small Cray to run the game though !
Tags: gaming, spore, videoI’m sure like myself and millions of other RPG fans out there, you’re currently playing Elder Scrolls - Oblivion.
You can apply the following optimisation tweaks to greatly improve the speed and beauty of the single best RPG on the market!
Now back to the fighting….

Update: much fun to be had on the Atari 2600 if your up for it. Phoenix anyone. ![]()

Rumble Box is a fast paced 3D action beat-em-up with a unique premise:
all of the characters are made of simple objects which stay around
in the level even after the character is defeated. The objects pile up,
changing the gameplay landscape and altering your combat tactics.
The game takes place inside a giant box, and the ultimate goal
of the game is to pile up enough defeated enemies to get out of the box.
Always nice to see a game out there that likes to break the typical gaming mould. Sure games all look spiffy these days and you need a small cray to run them, but hey where’s the gameplay, where’s the quirky twists, the fun challenges?
So much so, i’ve gone back to playing my old amiga games. They might not be a visual feast for todays young’uns (well I think the gfx’s are fab) but Shadow of the Beast, or Another World, or Manic Miner just have a charm that you don’t find these days.
