Thursday, December 7th, 2006Very funny, and I agree with all of them. I hate mis-interpretation in movies…
…either that, or I want a fully-fledged 3D shell interface!

In films and television code is always sailing across the screen at incredible speeds; it’s presented as an indecipherable stream of letters and numbers that make perfect sense to the programmer but dumbfound everyone else. I understand that to the non-savvy person the abilities of a programmer might seem amazingly complex, but do they honestly think we can read shit that isn’t sitting still? It’d be like trying to read six newspapers flying around in a tornado. Sure, I can watch a kernel compile, tail a log file, or simply monitor the scrolling output of a program - but the most value I get out of those activities is when execution stops and I can actually scroll back to read what the hell happened (unless the output was going slow enough I could read it as it happened).
Hot Fuzz
Monday, December 4th, 2006Simon Pegg has a new film, Hot Fuzz, it’s definitely on my list. A trailer is available. The ’shortcut’ clip is quite funny.
Top London cop, Police Constable Nicholas Angel, finds himself reassigned to the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With garden fetes and neighbourhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman, an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realises that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems.
…on the downside there is a lot of crap at the cinema too

Finally, the Channel 4 series The IT Crowd is being re-developed by writer and executive producers David Guarascio and Moses Port (Just Shoot Me, Mad About You); and Joe Port and Joe Wiseman (Son of the Beach, Dilbert).
oh oh, I smell another Red Dwarf. Just watch the original, you just know it’s damn funnier.

Monday, November 27th, 2006So i’m spending a lot of time recently trying to get Outlook to do something useful, difficult, Yes.
I simply want to print emails without the header information, Subject, To, etc. A quick google brings up this gem of productivity wisdom.
How to Hide or remove e-mail message headers - Outlook - Microsoft Office Online
Remove headers when printing e-mail messages
Outlook provides several ways to print individual messages without headers. You can:
* Copy the body of the message into a blank Microsoft Word, Microsoft WordPad, or Microsoft Notepad file, and then print it from there. (I assume you know how to do this, so while I provide steps for the other two options below, I don’t provide steps for this one.)
[….]
Seriously!
