Windows XP EULA in Plain English

Saturday, May 6th, 2006

Have you ever read a Windows License Agreement? No… Me neither. Some bod over at Linux Advocates has delved through the jargon and stripped out the Windows XP EULA in Plain English.

It’s an interesting read and to my mind not totally unexpected, essentially covering their own backs and putting the responsibilities on to the consumer.

A few corkers…

You agree that at any time, and at the request of “content providers may disable certain features on your computer, such as the ability to play your music or movie files.

You agree that can automatically and without your consent put new software on your computer.

will not be liable for any damages caused by viruses, even if those viruses are the result of security problems in Windows XP Home.

This one is the best, I mean why even have an “agreement”

is not liable even if they break the terms of this agreement.
